Friction
Friction is a force when
the two surfaces meet and rub together it can slow you down. Friction can be
helpful when you’re on your bike and need to slow down.
Surfaces
Surfaces affect friction.
When a marble rolls down something steep it slows down because it has less
friction. If there is carpet at the bottom it won’t go as far because carpet is
rough. The carpet has more friction. If vinyl is used the marble will go
further because it is a smooth surface. The vinyl has less friction
Weight
A heavy marble has less
friction because it travels faster. A light marble travels slower because it
has more friction. For example: if some one put a marble down a high ramp it
will go further because it has more friction then a light marble.
Gradient
The higher the gradient
is, the less friction an object will have. The lower the gradient is the more
friction you have. For example: if a marble goes down a slope with a high
gradient, it will go further because it has less friction.
Summary
When you’re Brakes rub
together is makes friction and it can help you. so when your in ur car and need to slow
down at a red light, you now know its a thing called friction.
