Horse Shoe Bend River Trip

Yesterday firday 28th march 2012 room 6 went for a walk to horse shoe bend river,tokomaru to explore and learn more about water.some kids sceeched and some took pictures but me and my buddy faith took pictures. we also had a boat challenge that means we had to get in a group of 3 or 4 and build a boat useing matirials only on the ground like leaves,twigs ect....

What an extraordinary day ! my sister Melissa had her graduation today and after if was finished all of my family went out for dinner to breakers :) i got to see my grandad as well he is awesome and very funny my grandad is the best =] .

Friction

Friction is a force when the two surfaces meet and rub together it can slow you down. Friction can be helpful when you’re on your bike and need to slow down.

Surfaces

Surfaces affect friction. When a marble rolls down something steep it slows down because it has less friction. If there is carpet at the bottom it won’t go as far because carpet is rough. The carpet has more friction. If vinyl is used the marble will go further because it is a smooth surface. The vinyl has less friction

Weight

A heavy marble has less friction because it travels faster. A light marble travels slower because it has more friction. For example: if some one put a marble down a high ramp it will go further because it has more friction then a light marble.

Gradient

The higher the gradient is, the less friction an object will have. The lower the gradient is the more friction you have. For example: if a marble goes down a slope with a high gradient, it will go further because it has less friction.

Summary

When you’re Brakes rub together is makes friction and it can help you.  so when your in ur car and need to slow down at a red light, you now know its a thing called friction.

Endangered Speices In New Zealand

              Endangered Species in New Zealand

I believe that we need more people to care for our endangered species in New Zealand. Without your help these animals will be come extinct there have been 21 extinctions of birds since mid 19^th century European settlement including 4 mammals as well

Some pets like pests we need to get rid of especially wild. Animals like wild rats, wild rats kill native animals like a kiwis egg kiwis are an nz icon they are unique they have feelings and we need to protect them! It is not okay to take animals for grunted.

What happened to our animals? The extinct ones!!! The ones your grandchildren will never see!!?? You’ll only see them in pitchers books or even on the internet buts that’s all. What happened to the dodo birds, the moas , the husk eagles, the pink eyed ducks or even the laughing owls?

There all gone, and soon the endangered animals will go as well as the pandas there’s not a lot of these types of animals left around the world for just 1 second have you ever thought about these animals? Or helped them when they desperately needed your help? Well most of these animals are ran over shot or purposely abused until death! These animals do not deserve all this and are mainly kept in zoos so they do not get extinct or injured so what can you do to help save these animals life’s

! A Poem About My Rat !

          ! ! !   M Y       R A T   ! ! !

My rat is Cuddly My rat is Cute, He is not mean and he is certainly not dangerous. My rat dose bite but that is his way of saying hello. Some people may think rats are disgusting but mine is not! My rat has white fur with a pinch of black around his head he has sharp yellow teeth as bright as the sun and I can describe him in so many ways so this is what I am going to say My rat is also a boy he likes to run around in his cage whether he’s waiting for food or not hell be sitting at the top. And if you think this isn’t enough information then try this. My rat is unique in so many ways the way he waits at the top of his cage is what I admire. My rat is fun yet he is playful sometimes he might be lazy and sometimes he’s not, my rat is long and chubby he has a very long tail that raps around your arm. He can be shy and squeak his head off but most of the time he will be fine. My rat is the world’s greatest rat and I could not possibly want to replace him.
